Women, Peace and Security
Learn more about PDC’s Women, Peace and Security (WPS) research, data, and analysis.
PDC’s composite index analysis of risk and vulnerability is being adapted for use by the Department of Defense to further objectives of the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) program. WPS data development and analysis results are being used by decision makers to understand the drivers of gender inequality and enhance the ability to invest in long-term programs that improve gender-based resilience, peace, and security around the globe. All WPS data and analysis findings are available at disasteraware.pdc.org.
Program Overview
Analysis Benefits
WPS Global Framework
GENDER RESPONSIVENESS is a measure of the level of gender-based participation, inclusion, and integration into civil society and government. Gender Responsiveness can be investigated by isolating specific indicators and measuring how they contribute to the overall score.
WPS Regional Analysis Methodology
The WPS Regional Analysis builds upon the global framework by adding an Exposure dimension to address specific issues within a region—for which the end result is a WPS Responsiveness score. The analysis provides decision makers with a scientific method for analyzing and understanding a nation’s ability to build resilience to potentially destabilizing shocks and facilitates action planning to increase gender responsiveness.
